RHN undergoes historical changes

In a press conference held earlier today in orbit of Hapes Prime, the Ministry of Defence and the Royal Hapan Armed Forces High Command have released a joint statement announcing structural changes and new command assignments to the Royal Hapan Navy.

The High Command has confirmed that it will be dramatically overhauling the RHN's existing structure as the Consortium will return its naval forces to fleet orientated operations, after more than a half a decade under a unified forces model. Whilst the unified forces model was well equipped to answer the call for streamlining the administrative footprint of the one of the most recognizable military forces in the galaxy, and reduced the bureaucratic overhead enabling the armed forces to better operate in unison around mission profile tailored task forces, military analysts and strategic planners answering to the Lorell Hall and the Military High Command had become largely unanimous that the time had come to return to the era of the traditional wartime fleet based operations.

A long restful peace has prevailed in the whole region, as in the wider galaxy, and while it is unlikely to be broken in the foreseeable future, the years of focus on flexibility and low-profile sustainment will now give way to a resurgent ambition in increasing the amount of firepower available at a moment’s notice across the Consortium’s territories. The intent is to once more scale up the standing strength of our naval forces to be able to support simultaneously expeditionary assault fleet deployments and defensive manoeuvring, and to train a new cadre of naval officers to be familiar with nimble autonomous small-unit operations as well as with operating in massed armada-sized formations against the most formidable adversaries imaginable.

As part of the overhaul, a series of new appointments to a newly expanding chain of command will be made, and unit reassignments, vessel designations and force deployments will be implemented. While most the changes to follow will not be announced to the greater public, the High Command is confident these changes will position it to be able to robustly prepare to overcome any challenges that the changing galactic security landscape may bring about in the coming years, while returning in many ways the Navy to its tried and tested post-unification roots with its operational model.

Speaking at the press conference, the spokesperson stated that the Navy was "confident that these changes will put us in a better position to meet the demands of our mission and better serve the Consortium. This overhaul sets us on a path to enhance the officer training and development programs and sense of commitment to a wider range of duties once more available, and in the long run will greatly strengthen our force projection capabilities, bolster our readiness to detect and respond to incursions across the Cluster, and reaffirm our commitment to the safety and security of the Hapes Cluster."
