The emblem of the Hapan News Network appears, accompanied by the typical theme song as the screen shift through familiar images of the Hapes Consortium's most important worlds. As the introduction ends, Anacia Chalcedon appears on screen before the scene of the Castle of Per'Agthra and shifting aurora borealis in the sky above, indicating winter is coming to Hapes Prime.
"Good evening, Hapes. Here is HNN with the latest news from the Consortium.
The chambers in Lorell Hall were bustling with activity today as King Alexander announced a number of changes to the Royal Council, as well as an intent to reform aspects of the Council of Lords.
The Council of Lords has long been known for its secrecy and elite stance in the Consortium as only appointed nobility with the title Tarix have been permitted entry. It is rumoured that the retirement and disappearance of several of its distinguished members have rendered the council inactive and less relevant in the day-to-day affairs of the Consortium, concerning itself largely with the governance and development of systems. It was announced that the King intends to revoke the privileges of Tarix Threestars, who was removed from his position as Fel'ta of External Affairs in August, due to his failure to appear before the council in the last six months. It was stressed that the Tarix still has a month to make an appearance, but after that he will lose governance of Mathonore, as well as his vote on the council. Vicereine Bajetix, the spokesperson for the Fountain Palace, indicated that the King is considering opening up other tiers of nobility for appointment, should the two chambers favour such a resolution.
Experts say this does not come as a surprise, given the King's conservative values and a belief in the nobility system established by Queen Mother Tini'duran III during the Antiquity Era, which later fell in to disuse during the Phoenix Era and the reign of King Andrew."
Chalcedon smiles lightly before continuing her report.
"The Royal Council saw the most durasteel changes, with a new appointment to the chamber, one departure, and two promotions.
Most notable was the reinstatement of the Prime Minister position, which has remained vacant since the resignation of Zayth Tarix Kadrim from the position in October of last year. It was previously declared that, along with the Lord Regent position, the Prime Minister would be appointed when the King deemed it necessary for the administration of the government. King Alexander announced that Andrew Starfyre, presently the Fel'da of the Interior, would be filling the spot. The Prime Minister will be the chairman of the Royal Council, driving the agenda, calling and tallying votes in discussions, and following up on reports from the ministries. Starfyre will still administrate the Ministry of the Interior and its mandate while fulfilling his duties as Prime Minister, unlike previous incarnations of the position where the individual was elevated and required to give up his department.
The Ministry of Industry saw a shift in its representation with the resignation of Tovakinpi Tarix Toshikhan as Fel'da. Toshikhan has had a lengthy tenure in the Royal Council, previously in the capacity of Fel'da of Defence, then moving to Industry in more recent times. The Tarix will still retain his seat in the Council of Lords, as well as governance of the Zaa system, and it has been indicated that he will retain a salary as he will continue to serve the Ministry of Industry in an advisory position, aiding in projects that warrant his assistance. Replacing him as Fel'da will be his former deputy, Tal Locke, who already has a seat on the Royal Council, ensuring a smooth transition.
The new appointment to the Royal Council is Maiestyes Pryvie, who will now serve in the capacity as Fel'ta of Industry. The King gave the following comment on the appointment of the Pryvie and her ascension to the Royal Council."
"Since her return to active service, Maiestyes Pryvie has proved her worth to the Consortium through endless devotion to her duties, not just in industrial affairs, but also in personnel management and aide to Ourselves and other members of the Royal Council. It is an esteemed privilege to finally grant her a seat on the council, and We also award her the Gold Medal of Service for her invaluable efforts."
"The King also commented that he is monitoring the progress of construction on Daein as well as that of the Crown Corporations, and that an award ceremony will take place upon the project's completion, ensuring that everyone who has been involved are recognized for their hard work.
In other government news, the Consortium saw the recent return of veterans Yassar Earendil and Dortan Amethius, previously of the Royal Hapan Armed Forces and Ministry of Industry respectively. They will both be serving in the Ministry of the Interior, heading up smaller divisions within the department.
We'll be back after these commercial messages."
With a smile from Chalcedon, the screen fades to black.
