Nova Cruiser
The Nova-class Battle Cruiser is a capital warship that has been used by the Royal Hapan Navy since reunification in 4000. While an aging design by Hapan standards, the ship is considered formidable and modern due to its sleek appearance combined with heavy weaponry and impressive speed.
Its exterior design is based on the retired Quasar-class Battle Cruiser, albeit more heavily armed and sporting more state of the art engines. As decades have passed since the introduction of the Novas to the Hapes Consortium's military, the design has been revised and upgraded a number of times, resulting in slight variations in appearance among the ships in service. The most prominent upgrades have been engine capacity as well as structural integrity and hull rating, while the armaments have remained the same. Additional shield generators around the bridge section have also been introduced.
Nova-class Battle Cruiser tactics have been changed as interactions with the outside Galaxy have become more frequent and the Hapes Consortium has confronted enemies more formidable than the various small-time pirate groups that previously plagued the Hapes Cluster. The cruisers are now typically deployed for escort duty of Battle Dragons, and operate in larger groups to swarm and dominate more heavily armed and slower capital ships.
