Template:Branch-CivilWar-DFC The Draconian Fighter Corps was a department within the Draconian Armed Forces that operated independently of the Orders (Draconian command fleets) and smaller assault and escort fleets for the most part. They were based on the desert moon Schoibato in the Lorell system and also on the Charu Wheels shipyards in the Charu system.

History

When the Draconian Union was formed, the bulk of the Draconian Armed Forces was in massive capital ships, relying on sheer force in order to overwhelm the Sword Confederacy. The enemy forces quickly adapted to this and used starfighters to perform surgical strikes at both Draconian bases and fleets, causing the formation of the Draconian Fighter Corps in 3948 under Viscountess Aani Tahre.

During the corps early years, it was mostly attached to the Draconian Orders and Escort Fleets, assisting in the defense of systems and convoys. Following such victories as the second battle of Dreema and second battle of Queen-Mother's Pearls, the role of the corps expanded. Many starfighters were fitted with hyperdrives and units independent of the central fleet hierarchy were established. The Draconian Fighter Corps was also occasionally tasked with performing secret strikes on the enemy in so called Black Ops raids.

The expansion of the fighter corps also led to the rise of Zion Tech, owned by House Par'wandi, which specialised in starfighter design and production. Previously they had been largely subordinate to House Olanji's Olanji/Charubah, but the need for starfighters brought them up to an equal level.

Vali Trini'qar was from her enlistment in 3963 one of the shining stars of the corps, earning such nicknames as "Spitfire" and "Baroness of Blood". Her piloting skills served as an example for the entire department, inspiring countless Hapans to enlist for lethal duty in the fighter corps every year.
