Template:Planetary-System The Alsace system is part of the Rim Worlds region and is located in-between the Cloak of Alsace nebulae and Irrea Mist. The five planets orbit the star Alsace and have been colonised since the very beginning of the First Expansion Era.
Alsace is famous for its beautiful temperate worlds and is a popular destination for both average tourists and historians. The system functions as the capital of the Rim Worlds region and headquarters of the Royal Hapan Navy.
History
Age of Queen-Mothers
The Alsace system was discovered in 283 during the First Expansion Era and the settled the following year. The initial colonisation proved difficult for the Hapans as the ship set to colonise Cavallero broke apart as it entered the planet's atmosphere in 284. It took a year before the Hapes Consortium decided to re-attempt colonisation of the planet.
The gas giants Rebord and Gallinore were colonised in 291 and 301 with the intent of mining the planets for tibanna gas and other natural resources.
The Hapans settled on Alsnin in 295 only to be met by the hostile Alsninian race. A lengthy conflict called the Alsace Colonial Wars ensued as the settlers were unwilling to leave their new home and the Alsninians did not want to share their planet with anyone, despite being restricted to the oceans of the planet.
Over the course of the centuries, the settlements in the Alsace system expanded and the system was eventually used as house seats for several powerful noble houses. House Vali'dara symbolically governed the un-colonised Tirsa system from Cavallero while House Shaa symbolically governed the Dreema system from Alsnin.
Dark Age
During the Dark Age and Hapan civil war, the Alsace system was a strong supporter of the Draconian Union. All the major noble houses of the system strongly supported the cause of Princess Da'tan.
House Lant, which governed the gas giants Gallinore and Rebord as part of Lant Mining Guild, declared their dominion as neutral in the conflict and continued the export of materials to all parties of the war.
House Vali'dara and House Tyrridon declared the creation of the Victory Alliance after Princess Da'tan died in 3965, and broke away from the Draconian Union. House Shaa was forced out of the system and spent several years on Arxian Major. Following a series of defeats the Victory Alliance surrendered to the forces of House Shaa in 3972. Alsace came under the family's total governance and was subject to a tyrannical hard-line rule for the duration of the Hapan civil war.
The system was the location of the conflict's final major engagement, the second battle of Gallinore, where several of the Draconian Union's leaders were lost in battle with the Phoenix Movement. After this, the Gallinore Conference of 3999 was hosted here, bringing about the end of the war.
Phoenix Age & Golden Age
During the Phoenix Age House Shaa reluctantly gave up governance of the system and retired to live on Alsnin. The system has slowly recovered from the effects of the lengthy conflict and is today a popular tourist attraction and hub of naval activity.
House Lant officially took over governance of the system during the Golden Age, seated on Gallinore. The Archon of the Rim Worlds governs the entire region from the capital city of Dreena.
