Template:Noble House-Current House Ci'hani is a Tarii noble family from the Varn system which held significant power in the Hapes Cluster throughout the Dark Age. A representative of the family, Zalin Ci'hani, served as Regent of the Draconian Union on two separate occasions.
The family was originally a Dukatii from Charlyk which explored the Irrea Mist during the Second Expansion Era and was elevated to Tarii. As skilled diplomats, they helped bring unity between the Hapes Consortium and Varno race.
History
Age of Queen-Mothers
The Ci'hani family had made its fortune during the Antiquity Era and Royal Dominion Era working on Jyll, administrating parts of the Olanji Mining Guild. They moved to Charlyk in the Mathonore system in 1167 and began working directly for House Liqavius.
In 1207 the family was made nobility of the level Dukatii, governing a province of Charlyk. Here the family prospered further, controlling a number of Tzimernut farms on the planet and exporting the timber to various other planets.
During the Second Expansion Era the family used its resources to explore the Irrea Mist and discovered the Varn system in 1455. Officials on Hapes Prime were hesitant to approve the colonisation of the system as the native race of Varn (the Varno) proved somewhat hostile towards the Hapans. No-one wanted a repeat of the Alsnin Colonial Wars. But eventually the aliens invited the colonisation of the system in 1463 and House Ci'hani was elevated to Tarii by the Queen-Mother.
The family proved diplomatic and convinced the Varno to become members of the Hapes Consortium in 1499. House Ci'hani eagerly employed and promoted the Varnos as the best engineers of the Hapes Cluster and brought fame and fortune to the Varn system.
Dark Age
House Ci'hani was considered a natural supporter of Princess Pal'durath even before the actual breakout of the Hapan civil war. Lady Ci'hani was a close friend of Queen-Mother Pal'durath VII and in turn her daugher Zalin Ci'hani was best friends with the oldest Princess.
Princess Da'tan did not need to ask for House Ci'hani's help and loyalty. They rather volunteered it and did their best to sway other noble houses to her side. Lady Ci'hani's brother, Virn Ci'hani, married Lady Kani Tylger in 3946 which further strengthened the bonds between the noble houses.
Lady Ci'hani died in 3962 and Zalin Ci'hani took over leadership of the family. From 3965 until 3979 she functioned as Regent of the Draconian Union due to the death of Princess Da'tan and the young age of the Princess' child, Lana Da'tanah.
After Princess Da'tanah turned 16, Lady Ci'hani became more or less second in command of the Draconian Union for the remaining time of the Hapan civil war. After Da'tanah's death at the second battle of Gallinore in 3998, she became Regent again along with her cousin Lord Tylger.
Phoenix Age & Golden Age
Zalin Ci'hani died at the age of 75 in 4004. The youngest of her two daughters, Ynsin Ci'hani, took over leadership of the house. The oldest daughter, Tami Ci'hani (aka Kora Valente), had pursued a career as a singer and artist rather than politician and officer during the Dark Age. Tami Ci'hani died in 4010 giving birth to her son, Ariath Windcloud.
During the Phoenix Age the family lost most of its political power and was reduced to ruling over their estate on Varn only. They remain a prominent figure within the conservative circles of the Rim Worlds region due to their close ties to House Tylger.
