Template:UnderConstruction Template:Branch-Ministry The Ministry of Intelligence was established in 4030 as a continuation of the old independent intelligence bureau Royal Hapan Intelligence. It is tasked with gathering information on potential threats against the Hapes Consortium, both external and internal and are also responsible for policing the Hapes Cluster. Frequent structure revisions in the early days of the Ministry led to equally frequent changes in leadership, but it has been stable since the rise of Mors Baynos as Minister and later his successor, Zayth Kadrim who heads it today.

History

The first recorded form of foreign intelligence gathering unit for the unified Hapes Consortium was the Hapan Intelligence, a bureau reporting directly to the King, consisting of part time personnel only.

Assumed to have fallen into disuse, it was later replaced wholly and mostly forgotten when Lord Vang Tyrridon arrived from the Rebel Alliance to Hapes in 4027 to create the Royal Hapan Naval Intelligence, a sub-branch of the Royal Hapan Navy itself. After several months of its development, King James decided to convert the RHNI into its own branch within the military, and it was renamed to Central Hapan Intelligence, its commanding officer receiving the title of Director. A few years later, it was named to Royal Hapan Intelligence, and summarily thereafter elevated to ministry status, gaining the name it has today; the Ministry of Intelligence.

In 4034 in conjunction with the reformation of the Ministry of the Interior into Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Intelligence received jurisdiction over Hapan law enforcement.

Departments

Throughout its history, the ministry has been charged with internal and foreign intelligence gathering, any special operations the Consortium chooses to conduct outside the Hapes Cluster, and most recently policing of the territories of the Consortium as well. Due to the nature of the work, the structure of the ministry is withheld from the grand public.

Ministry Ranks

Template:Branch-Intell-Ranks The Ministry of Intelligence does not operate with the ranks of the Civil Service like other departments of Lorell Hall. It maintains its own rank insignia and uniforms, a reminiscent of its days as an independent bureau, and one cannot join it through conventional ways. It is usually the Ministry itself that recruits the members that work within its hierarchy.
