Template:Battle Template:Campaign The event known as Operation Horizon to the Hapes Consortium was a military attack on the New Anzat Order by the militia of the Horizon Conglomerate and the subsequent retalitation by anti-Horizon forces. A massive coalition was formed by several of the mid and outer rim's governments and security corporations with the intention of destroying the Horizon Conglomerate's war machine and apprehend its de facto warlord leader, Venom Kazvar.

Conflict Roots

Venom Kazvar had built up a reputation as a ruthlessly efficient businessman in the years leading up to Operation Horizon. As he amassed his fortune, his greed grew along with his coffers. He had built up the massive Horizon Conglomerate which owned, controlled or influenced many systems in the mid and outer rim of the galaxy. The small and comparatively weak New Anzat Order became a target for his expansionist objectives from early on, fueled by the desire to acquire the Guardian Medium Cruisers owned by the Anzati government.

Having successfully raided many outer rim systems with his powerful conglomerate militia and becoming a thorn in the side of many mid-outer rim governments such as the Falleen Federation, Kazvar set his sight on the Ordint system in the Churba sector. It was contested space due to the presence of both Starvenger bases and New Anzat Order colonies on the planets there. As the New Anzat Order had deployed a small fleet consisting of several Guardian Medium Cruisers to the system, the Horizon Conglomerate bought up the Starvengers in order to justify an attack on the Anzati forces there.

Formation of the Coalition

While rich and powerful, Kazvar was by no means a modest or humble man. He liked to brag and intimidate the targets of his attacks and the New Anzat Order was no exception. Plans of the impending attack became known to many leaders of the galaxy's governments. The Galactic Empire had no intention of getting involved, but many others, such as the Falleen Federation, viewed the Horizon Conglomerate as a threat to peace in the outer rim territories.

Due to previous disagreements with Kazvar and also the presence of Hapan personnel in the Ordint system, the Hapes Consortium pledged a massive task force to the Coalition against Horizon in the summer of 4030. Joining them was the nationalised Antarian Rangers security company, the Falleen Federation and naturally the New Anzat Order. The respective fleets met at a rendezvous point in deep space before proceeding to the Ordint system.

It is important to note that this was the first military operation by the Hapes Consortium conducted outside the Hapes Cluster. It was justified with the fact that the Horizon Conglomerate, with its aggressive expansionist actions and threats towards outer rim governments, posed a serious threat towards the Hapes Consortium and its interests. At the same time, the Royal Hapan Navy preferred to fight Kazvar's forces outside the Hapes Cluster rather than waiting for him to show up in Hapan space.

Attack on Ordint

The Horizon armada arrived in the Ordint system first, led by Venom Kazvar himself along with his 2nd in command, Tyr DeMeer. The spear-head of the attack was the massive Modular Star Hauler called Xenon which had been extensively modified with an array of ion cannons and tractor beams in order to disable and capture ships. It's massive hull modifications along with auxiliary shield generators made it a near invulnerable enemy for the forces of the New Anzat Order present in the system.

The invading forces quickly opened fire on several random cargo haulers and their escorts which had just arrived in the system. The speed of the Xenon slowed the attackers down somewhat. While one of the Carrack Light Cruisers was modified, they would not be able to hold their own against the Guardian Medium Cruisers of the New Anzat Order and relied entirely on the modified Modular Star Hauler to succeed in their mission.

Coalition Arrival

The coalition forces arrived two hours after the Horizon Conglomerate's forces. The attackers were then starting to near Ordint. In later interviews, Tyr DeMeer revealed that Venom Kazvar knew about the impending arrival of the coalition armada. It is likely that the tycoon hoped to be able to disable and capture a few of the New Anzat Order's ships before the coalition arrived.

The Hapan fleet was massive, spear-headed by the Pulsar Battle Cruiser as well as the modified Lucrehulk 3210 Battleship White Star owned by Lord Antaria. The main battle line was made up of eight Nova Battle Cruisers while the close support lines consisted of five Dreadnaught Heavy Cruisers and a Nebulon-B Frigate. The picket line was made up of five Carrack Light Cruisers and the entire task force carried eight squadrons of Miy'til Interceptors.

The Xenon veered around, moving to escape the gravity well and also avoid the coalition ships. Even with its massive defensive systems, the ship would not be able to defeat the coalition forces. While having superiority in number of starfighters, the Horizon Y-wings were slower and less maneouverable than the Hapan Miy'til Interceptors. The White Star with its massive array of anti-starfighter weaponry also posed a threat to their fighter command. The Horizon Carrack Light Cruisers were severely outmatched and outgunned, also moving to retreat as they saw their leader and flagship abandon them.

Aftermath

As the Xenon narrowly escaped destruction by jumping to hyperspace, it also abandoned its support ships. The Carrack Light Cruisers could also jump to hyperspace, but the Horizon Conglomerate's second in command, Tyr DeMeer was unwilling to abandon the Y-wing squadrons under his command which had become surrounded by the coalition forces.

Discouraged by his leader's cowardly actions, DeMeer hailed the Hapan flagships and arranged a secession of hostilities. He gave his word of honour that he would not aide Kazvar in the future and that Horizon aggression was at an end. Venom Kazvar himself temporarily disappeared and his ship later found its way in to the hands of the Drax family. While he resurfaced to work for the Galactic Empire, he was eventually imprisoned at Kessel where he remains today.
