The planet Arxian Major is the largest temperate planet of the Arxian system and twin planet of Arxian Minor with which it also shares the moon Sintral. It was discovered, along with the rest of the system, in 302 during the First Expansion Era. From 702 and on to 3948 the planet was part of the Grand Tarii of Selab until the system was colonised and came under the governance of the Tarii House Tylger.

Since being colonised, the planet has been developed with various minor industry but rather massive commercial activity. The planet is famous throughout the Hapes Cluster for being the home of Pentix Mountain Dragons and having been the favourite vacation spot of Princess Da'tanah during the Hapan civil war. The planet is governed by the Dukatii House Zah'naria and Tarii House Tylger.

History

Age of Queen-Mothers

The planet was discovered in 302 and was, along with Arxian Minor, the Arxion star and the system itself, named after the rulers of the Arxianic dynasty. However, the system was not colonised for two reasons. The Belgorians native to Belgor were considered to be a disruptive element as the species was experimenting with space travel. Also, the Pentix Mountain Dragons were discovered to travel via Sintral from Arxian Major on to Arxian Minor. The animals were considered dangerous and unpredictable, making colonisation hazardous and expensive.

When the feudal nobility system was established by Queen-Mother Tini'duran III in 702, the system and all planets within became part of the Grand Tarii of Selab. House Raqill, a Tarii family, was established as the symbolic rulers of the system, but they only visited the system on a handful of occasion over the next three thousand years.

Dark Age

During the Hapan civil war, the Arxian system was ordered to be colonised by Princess Da'tan as she permitted the immigration of pilgrims to the system. House Raqill had taken over the Mathonore system and the Grand Tarii of Selab ceased to exist with the Arxian system coming under governance of House Tylger which was elevated to Tarii after having been a Dukatii on Lorell for the last 3000 years.

Arxian Major was marked for agricultural development and large farming communities were set up across the planet. Part of the agreement was that the locals would supply the Draconian Union's armed forces with food supplies and the planet earned itself an important place among the Union's worlds. In addition to this, House Tylger went on to establish various companies to keep the planet and system in touch with the rest of the Draconian Union's economy, but it never became a major economic centre. Various strongholds were established across the planet as the leadership of the Draconian Union enjoyed spending their vacations on the planet.

The Draconian Union kept a large permanent garrison on the world to oversee its new inhabitants. During the religious revolts in 3971, Count Laz Tylger defied his mother's will and used the Draconian garrison to bring one of the warring religious factions on both Arxian Minor and Arxian Major under control. This made him extremely popular with most of the population in the system and his mother stepped down as head of House Tylger in favour of him.

After the bombardment of Belgor in 3977 Arxian Major received a large number of refugees who settled in camps made for them. Eventually a large majority of these moved to other worlds of the Hapes Cluster, but a large number of Belgorians chose to stay on the planet.

Phoenix Age & Golden Age

During the Phoenix Age, Arxian Major provided Arxian Minor with massive economic relief to keep the smaller planet's economy afloat. The rebuilding of the Hapes Consortium under a single banner meant low priority for exotic foodstuffs that the planet had made money off exporting. However a large number of Draconian noble families decided to settle on Arxian Minor and Arxian Major as the system kept a high status even as King Andrew was reducing the power of nobility elsewhere in the Hapes Cluster.

During the Golden Age, the planet has once again experienced a growth in income as part of economic growth projects initiated by House Tylger.

Governance

The planet is governed from the Draconian Administrative Centre in the Zahar province by House Zah'naria, a Dukatii noble house which previously also governed Belgor. The planet falls under the jurisdiction of House Tylger which overall governs the entire Arxian system from their palace in the Draconian Island Estate.

The planet also falls under the jurisdiction of the Archon of the Rim Worlds region, but is not considered to be a world of major importance in the region today.

Commerce & Industry

Prior to the Phoenix Age, the planet was much like Arxian Minor, devoted to agricultural activity. After the mass immigration of noble families from other parts of the Rifle Worlds and Rim Worlds regions after the end of the Hapan civil war, many of the planet's smaller cities were expanded in to sprawling metropolises. The wealth of the nobility made the economy of Arxian Major boom and major commercial districts were established to house businesses owned by the new inhabitants.

Terrain & Provinces

The planet is of average size, with a beautiful and diverse terrain. The surface of Arxian Major is divided in to three continents. The western one is called ‘Zarifa Kantor’, governed by the Duchii House Nartiin, while the eastern one is called ‘Sintra Lentor’, governed by the Duchii House Llira. The southern continent connects the two with mountains, forests and grassland is called ‘Qal Ciator’ and is governed by the Turilii House Zarr.

In between them is the ocean called ‘Natrizax’ which is known for its tranquility. The water comes from ‘Lake Ci’hani’ in the north which was formed by water from melting glaciers.

Flora & Fauna

One of House Raqill's few efforts to improve the Arxian system was the planting of Tzimernut and Tik tree clusters on Arxian Major which evolved in to massive forests over the centuries. This has since the colonisation of the planet in 3948 been a major source of export income due to the demand for quality wood across the Hapes Cluster.

The planet is famous for being home to the Pentix Mountain Dragons which have also spread to both Sintral and Arxian Minor. They keep to the mountainous regions and are rarely seen elsewhere. The animals inspired the design of both the Quasar Battle Cruisers and Nova Battle Cruisers and many high ranking members of the Draconian Union had tamed dragons as their pet. The animals were also inspiration for the crests of many noble houses, including House Ci'hani, House Tylger and House Shaa. The Battle Dragon ship design was named after Princess Da'tanah's pet dragon which fought against the Phoenix Movement's troops during the sixth battle of Lorell.

Satellites

Arxian Major's satellite is Sintral which also orbits Arxian Minor. The lakes on the surface of the temperate moon reflect light on to the surface of the planet during the night and also causes frequent eclipses.
