Template:Militaristic Era The Militaristic Era (2874–3210) was the seventh era of the Age of Queen-Mothers which followed the 800 years of peace and Second Antiquity Era. Following the death of the last Queen-Mother of the Dal'kuran dynasty, Lady Cazin'turin took power in the Hapes Consortium, abandoning many of the ideals that the previous dynasty had held high and instead focused on the Royal Hapan Armed Forces.
Monarchy
While the Second Antiquity Era brought about prosperity for the Hapan Nobility, after nearly 800 years of peace most of them had become restless. Most of the nobles commanded their own fleets which had little to do during the time-period. Lady Cazin'turin, who ruled the Lorell system at the time, was one of the foremost figures within the Royal Hapan Armed Forces as the fleets and armies under her command were unequalled anywhere in the Hapes Cluster, except maybe for House Olanji's armada.
When the Dal'kuran dynasty fell, much of the nobility felt that Cazin'turin was the right person to take over. She was crowned in a fairly spartan ceremony on Hapes Prime in 2874. It lacked much of the pomp and grandiose regality of previous coronations and focused more on House Cazin'turin's military nature. Nearly a millennia later, it would serve as a model for many of the Draconian Union's ceremonies during the Hapan civil war.
Records of the Royal Hapan Palace and also Lorell Hall show that the monarchs of the Cazin'turin dynasty often toyed with the idea of opening the Hapes Consortium's borders to the outside galaxy again. The borders had been permanently closed in 2051, which had contributed to the 800 years of peace.
After an incident with Galactic Republic ships in the Lorell system, also known as the Lorell skirmish of 3196, and the somewhat suspicious death of Queen-Mother Cazin'turin VI in 3197, Queen-Mother Cazin'turin VII was crowned. Most later testimonies and finds hint that Prince Varic, the Chume'da, had his mother killed in order to get his wife on the throne sooner. The Galactic Republic and especially Jedi were blamed for the death, which helped trigger a mobilisation for war. Eventually the Queen-Mother was killed in the coup of 3210, which toppled the dynasty.
Society & Culture
Much of the prosperity brought about by the Second Antiquity Era endured the rule of the Cazin'turin dynasty as well, but limited funding was given to the creation of new architectural wonders, save for those relating to the Royal Hapan Armed Forces. This was unfortunate for some systems as the Queen-Mothers went as far as permit armed conflict between some Noble Houses, which resulted in much destruction in certain systems.
Focus was put on war academies and military education, especially in the last century of the era, with a large percentage of the population enlisting in the military. Some nobility, especially House Olanji, House Par'wandi and House Vali'dara used the opportunity to introduce conscription on their worlds in order to strengthen their military power and influence in Lorell Hall.
The Hapan peoples were greatly affected by the destruction of the Orthwell system in 3189 which brought a new sense of unity and compassion.
Armed Forces
The Royal Hapan Armed Forces thrived under the rule of the Cazin'turin dynasty, getting near unlimited funding for whatever they wanted. Both Olanji/Charubah and Hapan Consortium were contracted with developing faster, bigger and more dangerous ships for the Royal Hapan Navy while the Royal Armaments Guild of Charubah saw the establishment of factories on numerous worlds, producing countless firearms for the growing Royal Hapan Army. The Lorell system was further fortified as Arx Hapana, becoming the most militaristic system in the Hapes Cluster, with heavier defences than Hapes Prime.
The Lorell skirmish of 3196, where Galactic Republic ships entered the Lorell system and opened fire on the Royal Hapan Navy, seems to have been provoked by a covert task force which Princess Dahalia sent in to Republic space, attacking a mining colony. Following this skirmish, from which the Consortium emerged victorious with minimal losses, the Royal Family began to push more and more for an all out war with the Galactic Republic. Queen-Mother Cazin'turin VII proposed the annexation of the Kuat sector and Stenness Node with eventual goals being the conquest of the Corellian sector and Coruscant.
Much of the Hapan nobility became worried over the Queen-Mother's long term goals and felt more comfortable with waging a short-term war with the Galactic Republic, hoping to leave it crippled and wounded, mostly for the sake of Hapan morale. They did not support any ideas of military expansion outside the Hapes Cluster, but none dared speak up except for House Hal'ruut of the Zaa system which used the support of Consortium Navy admiral Gralisbath Nuriin to bring about the unsuccessful Zaa rebellion of 3209. The Queen-Mother was killed shortly thereafter by agents of House Vali'dara and House Olanji in order to put an end to the madness.
