Template:Royal Dominion Era The Royal Dominion Era (1162–1404) was the fourth era of the Age of Queen-Mothers. The Serlanum dynasty is not regarded as a very effective or even good dynasty of monarchs by most historians. They failed to continue the brilliant leadership of the Tini'duran dynasty and became slaves to the feudal system of control that had been established during the Antiquity Era.
Monarchy
Illaria Tini'duran's reign as the 14th Queen-Mother of the Tini'duran dynasty was a short one as she died under mysterious circumstances on September 2 1162. Lady Niudik Serlanum of the Abaem system had lobbied for her family to replace the Tini'duran dynasty in the event of a breach in the line of succession and was therefore appointed by the representatives in Lorell Hall by a slight majority. She was crowned on September 5 in Chume'Dan.
The Queen-Mother soon realised that ruling the Hapes Consortium was not as easy as governing a system with a few colonies had been. Her leadership was plagued by uncertainty and lack of decisive action. She also expressed a notable paranoia towards nobility she didn't know too well and would often restrict their power. Many historians believe that Niudik Serlanum had arranged the death of Queen-Mother Tini'duran XIV and worried that she might fall victim to a similar attack herself.
Her issue continued much of the same ineffective style of leadership throughout the 242 years they held power in the Hapes Cluster. They are remembered mostly for tightening the control of the Royal Family on the peoples of the Hapes Consortium and granting extensive power to trusted Hapan nobility. On March 3 1389, Queen-Mother Serlanum VI abolished all forms of religion in the Hapes Cluster in order to establish the Queen-Mother as the supreme authority and figurehead to all Hapans.
Armed Forces
Of the two divisions of the Royal Hapan Navy, the Consortium Navy had always been branded "second best" by the Tini'duran dynasty. The Serlanum dynasty continued in the same way, if not worse, strictly limiting the amount and types of ships given to the commoner navy. The Queen-Mothers argued that excessive funding to the commoners could tempt one of the Consortium Navy admirals to make a bid for the throne. The Noble Navy thrived, at least the parts controlled by nobles favoured by the Serlanums, enjoyed a steady supply of warships and starfighters for their fleets, not to mention nearly all Royal Hapan Army recruits were sent to regiments and armies controlled by friends of the Royal Family.
Conflicts
The Galactic Republic and Jedi diplomats initiated the first contact with the Hapes Consortium since the Foundation Era during the reign of the Serlanum dynasty. The meetings went poorly as Queen-Mother Serlanum V feared that the force users would probe her mind in order to gain classified information on the Hapes Consortium. The Republic diplomatic vessels were destroyed and a small fleet was dispatched from Coruscant to the Lorell system to investigate the matter which led to a clash of ships. The Republic ships and Jedi retreated and force users were banished from Hapan space shortly thereafter.
