Lorell is the most important planet of the Lorell system, orbited by its three satellites Schoibato, Accoib and Icco. It is the only planet of the Hapes Consortium which foreigners are allowed to visit and has been established as a industrial and commercial nexus over the course of the last decade.
The Black Sun Crisis took place on Lorell between 4028 and 4029 when Lorell was overrun by foreign criminal elements. The Hapes Consortium has since removed these elements and renovated the city districts they inhabited.
Lorell is also the administrative capital world of the Rifle Worlds region, governed by Archon Vetra Kurov.
History
Lorell was the first planet colonised by the Lorell Raiders, some centuries before the founding of the Hapes Consortium. It was used as their base of operations for their strikes on the Galactic Republic. After the Lorell Raiders were wiped out in the Lorell Skirmish of -32, the captured female slaves and wives rose up against the male oppressors. After a successful rebellion, the Hapes Consortium was established in 1 during the Foundation Era of the Age of Queen-Mothers.
In the centuries that followed, Lorell was an important military base, functioning as a checkpoint for all traffic going in and out of the Hapes Cluster. In 702, a feudal nobility system was introduced to the Hapan hierarchy and the Tarii of House Paradoc was established as the rulers of the Lorell system. The Dukatii of House Tylger was the local governing house of Lorell itself. During the Dark Age, the system was the bastion of the Draconian Union and the subject to many organised raids and attacks by hostile factions.
In 4024, Lorell was opened to the outside galaxy as there was a higher demand for foreign goods than before. Alexander Tylger was made Governor of the system and administrated the commercial development of the planet.
From the fall of 4028 to late summer of 4029, the planet went through the Black Sun Crisis. The Royal Hapan Navy and Royal Hapan Army was called in by Governor Antaria to evacuate and remove numerous city districts which had been illegally developed and occupied by criminal elements from Kiffex and Falleen Prime. Many of the shantytowns were levelled and later re-developed for legitimate commerce.
Profile
Life on Lorell, due to its trade hub nature, is incredibly diverse. Beings come to Lorell from all across the Hapes Cluster, not to mention the rest of the galaxy. The planet is a popular destination for Hapans who wish to experience other cultures without venturing outside the borders of the Hapes Consortium.
Governance
Since the local system Governor position was abolished in 4032, the Lorell system has been under the administration of the Archon of the Rifle Worlds region (presently Vetra Kurov). As the Lorell system is strategically important and vital to the defense of the Hapes Cluster, the Archon maintains close relations with the Royal Hapan Armed Forces based in the system.
The Archon also functions as a liason to governments and corporations who have embassies on Lorell.
The planet and the rest of the Lorell system is administrated from the city districts known as Avalon. Ruins of the old Royal Draconian Palace lie to the north of the capital. Most administrative districts are located on the eastern part of the southern continent.
Industry & Commercial
Most of the industrial city districts of Lorell are located on islands and floating platforms in the northern ocean of the planet. Many of these cities are remnants of the Black Sun Crisis and this is the least developed region of the planet.
Industrial activity ranges from production of small arms, droids to ships.
Commercial activity is concentrated on the north-eastern and central parts of the southern continent and this is where many of the Hapes Consortium’s most magnificent skyscrapers are located. Lorell is a financial hub and home of the Rifle Worlds stock market.
Still, even with its considerable industrial and commercial activity, there is high unemployment on Lorell. This is due to the massive cities on the other worlds of the Lorell system which function as additional residential zones for Lorell. The development of Schoibato has lowered unemployment some. It is expected that further development of Lorell’s northern city districts with help the situation even further.
Residential
Along the southern shores and south-eastern parts of Lorell you find the residential zones where locals live in harmony with nature. The massive population has lead to high unemployment and many plans are underway to balance this.
Embassies
The Galactic Empire maintains an embassy in orbit of Lorell in the form of a custom Trading station, while several corporations maintain embassies combined with production centres on the surface of the planet. Among them are Akheton Mining Corporation, StormOne Recycling, Arakyd Industries, Galactic Corporation and Morgarr Commercial.
Satellites
Lorell has three natural satellites. Schoibato is presently the most developed of the three. Originally a desert moon, it has since been completely developed to function as an industrial centre with recycling plants and factories covering the surface. It is the base of StormOne Recycling. Accoib (ocean) and Icco (forest) remain undeveloped apart from some smaller Hapan outposts.
