Template:Species The Hapan race (also known as Hapani-human) is found across the Hapes Cluster and is directly descendant of the Lorell Raiders. They make up a majority of the Hapes Consortium's population.

Overview

Due to the Transitory Mists that surround the Hapes Cluster along with a general suspicion towards outsiders, Hapans have been isolated from the rest of the galaxy both culturally and genetically. Because most of the male population was wiped out by the Jedi around -50, the remnant female population founded the Hapes Consortium and adopted a matriarchal society which was ruled by Queen-Mothers. The Hapes Consortium fiercely guarded its borders before closing them to the rest of the galaxy in 2051.

Over the years, interaction between Hapans and the rest of the Galaxy was extremely limited, due to their enforced isolation. However, in 4024, the Hapans opened their borders to the rest of the galaxy, and it has since been much easier to spot a Hapan that it has been in the past.

History

Hapans are the descendants of the Lorell Raiders, a group of pirates who had found routes through the Transitory Mists and used the Hapes Cluster as their base. The Lorell Raiders, along with any other treasure they would plunder, would abduct beautiful women from all over the galaxy and bring them back to Lorell and Hapes Prime, eventually creating the Hapans. Around -50, however, the mostly male Lorell Raiders were decimated by the Jedi when they ventured out into Republic space. After a while, the remaining Hapans created a matriarichal society, with a Queen-Mother at its head.

The Hapans and their Hapes Consortium focused on expansion within the Hapes Cluster which was rich with temperate, habitable planets. In the process they annexed many worlds which were already inhabited by sentient species, sometimes even by force. The Hapans became the dominant species within the government while other races became subordinate castes functioning in various roles, such as warriors.

It should be noted that all the species that are members of the Hapes Consortium are often referred to simply as Hapans. In recent years the other races have been given equal standing in Hapan society.

Biology

Hapans are biologically the same as Humans, but the main difference is that the Hapans were bred over many generations to be beautiful. This was due to the fact that in -350, the Lorell Raiders captured and mated with the galaxy's most beautiful women. Due to the isolation of the Hapes Cluster, the whole population eventually became beautiful due to the limited gene pool.

Another trait that Hapans possessed was their night blindness. Because of the perpetual daylight of Hapes Prime and other planets in the Cluster due to the density of stars in the region, the Hapans have lost all ability to see in the dark, and were nearly blind even in dim lighting.
