The Royal Hapan Armed Forces' 1st Fleet was redeveloped in the fall of 4036 following a massive reorganisation of the Armed Forces. Currently under the command of career military officer Commodore Vorn Krace, the fleet is deployed to patrol and protect the Lorelli Reach and Corsair Outback regions.
History
Formation
The 1st Hapan Fleet was established shortly after the re-unification of the Hapes Consortium in 4000 and was assigned to guard the Lorell system. Since the borders of the Hapes Cluster were partially opened to the outside galaxy in 4024 the fleet has been the vigilant guardian of the Consortium's sole open system and only known entrance to the Hapes Cluster through the treacherous Transitory Mists, with relatively few breaks in its assignment to the region.
Development
From 4027 it was led by the then Commodore Alex Smith. The fleet was initially composed of fighter lines and the frigates and carriers necessary to act as staging points for their operations. As the Royal Hapan Navy became more fleet oriented, the 1st Fleet was joined by Nova squadrons, providing it with much more capital support and setting up the structure present in the fleet today.
In 4029, under the command of then Commodore Lord Alexander Tylger and in conjunction with the Royal Hapan Marine Corps, the 1st Hapan Fleet was responsible for driving the Black Sun crime syndicate from Lorell in Operation Grandslam after diplomatic talks collapsed under the weight of Prince Qel Dar's greed.
The Fleet was later lead by a succession of officers, including Sirus Threestars and Yassar Earendil, and persevered through a number of reorganisations of the Armed Forces during the 4030s; becoming the Rifle Defence Force during the short-lived merging of the Royal Hapan Army and the Royal Hapan Navy, before reverting back to its historic numeric designation after the Marines were reorganised in the reformation of the 9th Fleet.
After a thorough review of the Consortium's defence forces in 4036, the fleet gained the title of 1st Escort Fleet, and was reassigned to guard the heart of the Consortium in Hapes Prime, along with a small number of periphery star systems. The fleet's command structure underwent a number of changes during this period, as the chair of command changed hands four times in the space of two years, before finally settling down with Commodore Vorn Krace in command, and Captain Marvath Xan`thar as his executive officer.
Current Activities
Following the massive shift that occurred in the Galaxy in 4038, the 1st Fleet was redeployed - now equipped with sophisticated Imperial technology and its new Super Star Destroyer flagship - back towards its origins near Lorell. Assigned to two regions nearest the entrance zone through the Transitory Mists - Lorelli Reach and the Corsair Outback, the 1st Fleet took up once again the mantle of guardians of the gate to the Cluster, with an ever-stronger visible military presence in Lorell and the surrounding systems. The Fleet also took up the extensive task of patrolling the wild space regions around the Cluster, as part of an initiative to prevent potential hostiles from setting up bases within the empty regions of the Cluster.
