General Knowledge

Promotions.

Being active and reporting in weekly will secure you a good name and reputation, but will not necessarily get you a promotion. Of course, the lower your rank is the easier it is to get one. Showing more activity than your teammates, such as creating logos for your unit, or storylines such as web pages and other activities are surely a good tip. Giving suggestions are also appreciated BUT when your CO says no to the idea, drop it. Like in real life, our military is a hierarchy.

Of course, once you are at a certain point, you will need pure leadership skills to go higher. I am not talking about the leadership skills in Combine, but in real life. To be able to keep a unit or fleet active and busy, without having to be told what to do, or how to do it is what I am talking about, not all of you have it but it can be trained. Watch your superior officers, think up your own ideas and when you get the chance use them.

Using your mind for things like above, is what makes you a good officer, not by ass creeping your CO or going behind his or her back to his or her CO. I am sure you know what I mean.

A note to the people with the power to promote:

Everyone starts at the bottom, unless the King gives special permission for a promotion. Everyone works their way up at their own pace, no one is to be promoted faster than others due to personal preference. Questions on promoting can be taken up with the Naval CO at any time.

Officers Law Book

§1 Officers/Soldiers Codex:
You are an officer of the Royal Hapan Armed Forces, Honor, Glory and Pride guide you through your hard times, you serve his majesty the King and the Consortium, everything else is second. Your next is your brother, you serve together, in the hundreds of thousands, for one purpose, to protect the Consortium against outsiders, against raiders and those that wish to intrude. Serving the Consortium honors you, it honors your family, you are not serving out of fear or because you must, you are serving because it is what you believe in.

§2 Pilots Codex:
Leaving the Cluster without the permission or order of your CO is strongly prohibited and will result in a court hearing as well as loss of pilots license. You are allowed to travel within the system you are in as you like, unless you have been given the order to remain where you are. Leaving the system without permission of your CO is prohibited and again would result in a court hearing and possible loss of license.

§3 Commanding Officers Codex:
As a Commanding Officer you are responsible for the actions of those under your command. It is your duty to make sure your men follow your orders closely, failure to do so must be reported to your commanding officer. Should one of your men be on leave, or not reachable for a certain amount of time you must be informed. Working together with those under your command is essential, it is your duty to train and educate those you command on any and all issues relevant to your operations. Should an officer fail to follow rules, it shall be reported to the Fleet CO and Naval CO, his or her Fleet CO is then responsible to make sure it doesn't happen again, hence talk to the officer and warn him or her. Should this happen a second time the Naval CO will interfere.

Articles of the Code of Conduct

Article I
I am a Hapan, regardless of the race, culture, or nation of my origin, fighting in the forces of his Royal Majesty, King Alexander Tylger I. I am prepared to give my life in the defence of his Majesty, the Royal Family, and the Consortium over which they preside.

Article II
I will never surrender of my own free will. If in command, I will never surrender the members of my command while they still have the means to resist.

Article III
If I am captured I will continue to resist by all means available. I will make every effort to escape and to aid others to escape. I will accept neither parole nor special favours from the enemy.

Article IV
If I become a prisoner of war, I will keep faith with my fellow prisoners. I will give no information nor take part in any action, which might be harmful to my comrades. If I am senior, I will take command. If not, I will obey lawful orders of those appointed over me and will back them in every way.

Article V
When questioned, should I become a prisoner of war, I am required to give name, rank, identification number, and date of birth. I will evade answering further questions to the utmost of my ability. I will make no oral or written statements disloyal to his Royal Majesty, the Royal Family, the Consortium, or its allies or harmful to their cause.

Article VI
I will never forget that I am a Hapan, fighting for freedom, responsible for my actions, and dedicated to the principles, which govern the conduct of my state. I will trust in my liege and in the Hapes Consortium.

Reporting In

When FCO's report in, the reports should look like this:

Number of members: X
Number of active: X
[List them]
Number of inactive: X
[List them]
------------------------------
List all activities fleet is participating in
List all tasks fleet has to do or is doing

Reporting in must be done monthly unless stated otherwise and the posts must be made in the approperiate forum via the MB, in a general posting (First to report in makes the post, others reply in it).

System Scanning

Each fleet is assigned a number of systems it's watches over. The main systems (Hapes, Lorell and Alsace) do not need to be reported, for all other designated systems you are required to make a post in the approperiate forum whenever you find something. The main systems only need to be reported on if something unusual is happening, such as a foreign battle fleet grouping up.
